The Alva'atan ("Mother River") is the largest river of Ishkrond -- and the largest known river of Nuerth. It begins in the high mountains of the Hidden Kingdom, and flows to the east through the basin of the Alva'atan Jungle, a vast equatorial rainforest, before it turns south, flowing across the dry Northern Plains until it finally empties in the Sea of Snakes near the city of Khesh.
